Bernard “Bernie” L. Marshall, age 87, of Rosendale, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at his home.

Bernie was born on December 25, 1938, on the family farm near Princeton, WI, son of Chester and Irene (Kozlowski) Marshall. After graduating high school, he went on to serve his country in 1961 for the US Army National Guard – Company B, 2d Battle Group, 127th Infantry- 32nd Infantry Division under the Sixth US Army. During his time in the service, he specialized in light weapons infantry and achieved his Sharpshooter Qualification Badge and an M-1 Rifle award. Bernie was very proud of his time served with his local division of men.

Bernie was a farmer his whole life and extremely proud of the land that he took care of and the crops that he grew. As many people know, Bernie was very particular of how he farmed and who helped him. Bernie’s pride and joy were his John Deere tractors, everyone that knew him also knew how much he loved John Deere. He enjoyed watching and participating in the local tractor pull competitions every year with his 5010. Bernie also had a long career as a bulldozer operator for Bud Hoch & Sons Excavating for over 40 years and he was very proud of the work that they did, again his particular personality and drive for perfection was evident in all of his work.

Bernie loved to spend time at Tiger’s Bar & Grill where he made many meaningful friendships and shared many stories and laughs. Bernie knew so many people that it didn’t matter how far he traveled from home; he ALWAYS ran into someone that knew him and remembered his name. One of Bernie’s favorite times of the year was the annual bonfire gathering at the farm every Mother’s Day. Friends and family loved attending the bonfire and even lovingly referred to it as the “Weekend at Bernie’s” bonfire.

Bernie is survived by his children, Charlene (Josh Kohnke) Marshall of Nekoosa, Chuck (Tammy) Beck of Rosendale, and Ron Beck of Norfolk, NE; 4 grandchildren, Cami, Casi, Tarrin, and Andrew Beck; his sisters, Jean Zabel of Ripon, and Doris Smoody of Oshkosh; nieces and nephews, Don (Pam) Bernier Jr, Michael (Sandy) Bernier, Mary Bernier, and Tyrone (Paige) Smoody; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents, Chester and Irene Marshall; and his friend, Wade Bender.

Bernie’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to everyone that has checked in on Bernie, provided food or rides for him, and helped whenever he needed it. We are forever grateful for our family, friends, and neighbors that care.

A celebration of life will take place at Tiger’s Bar and Grill at a later date this summer. A memorial has been established in his name.
