Barbara A. Prissel, age 71, of Ripon, WI, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Copperleaf Village in Ripon.

Barbara was born on July 7, 1946, in Plum City, WI, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Dankers) Seipel. She graduated with honors from Pepin High School in 1964 and Minneapolis Business College in 1966. On December 16, 1967 she married Stephen Prissel in Durand, WI.

Upon her graduation from business college, Barbara was employed as a legal secretary and paralegal for several law firms in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Barbara was a paralegal for 19 years at Kilgore Law offices in Ripon. She was also secretary to the administrator of Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac. She also taught education business classes at Moraine Park Technical College at their three campuses in Fond du Lac, West Bend and Beaver Dam, as well as in various communities in the Moraine Park District. She became lead instructor for the Legal Administrative Professional Program at the three campuses, which she taught for 11 years. She was instrumental in developing a legal secretary program at Moraine Park and also served on various advisory committees in this regard for many years. She also wrote the first curriculum for an online legal secretary program in the State of Wisconsin for Moraine Park while employed with them.

She was also a church organist/pianist for most of her life starting when she was 12 years old and played for many years at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, WI. She also taught piano lessons for many years in her home in various communities they lived in and at Mike's Music in Fond du Lac.

She was a member of the Legal Professionals Association-East Central, Wisconsin Association of Legal Professionals and the National Association for Legal Professionals. Barbara served in many offices and on various committees while being associated with this tri-level association. She was awarded the Legal Award of Excellence from her local chapter in 1995-96. She was also nominated for several “Who's Who” publications over the years.

She helped out as a volunteer in the Ripon Public School system for many years when her children and grandchildren were enrolled there.

Barbara also loved to write poetry and contributed several poems to local newspapers as well as writing them for family members and friends. She also loved her dear hometown of Pepin, swimming, cooking, playing the piano and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Stephen of 50 years; her children, Angela (Matt) Prissel Becker of Oshkosh, WI, Benjamin (Lisa) Prissel of Oshkosh, WI; her grandchildren, Alexus Berndt, Riley Prissel Becker of Oshkosh, WI, August Prissel and Leo Prissel of Oshkosh, WI; her siblings, Betty Reinhardt of Pepin, WI, Mary (Joe) Cosgrove of Miami, FL, Richard (Tami) Seipel of Belgrade, MN, and Kim (Judy) Seipel of Pepin, WI; nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ann; and a brother John Seipel Jr. of Pepin, WI.

A visitation for Barbara will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971, and again from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St., Green Lake, WI, 54941.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St., Green Lake, WI, 54941, with Reverend William Whalen officiating. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. A memorial is being established.
