After graduation, Kent went to work at National Rivet, in Waupun, doing payroll for them and the Shaler Co. After answering an ad, Kent was hired at Condon Oil Co. and began employment there on December 3, 1961. He purchased the company from Donald B. Condon. At the time of Kent's death he was the owner and CEO of that company and its subsidiary’s. During his years with Condon Oil, Kent has held many outside positions: President Ripon JC’s; Officer at Messiah Lutheran Church; President of Petroleum Marketers Association of Wisconsin, 1990; Member of the City of Ripon Planning Commission; PMAW Leaf Committee-2003-04; Board of Directors, Horicon Bank. Kent enjoyed hunting of all kinds, especially hunting ducks and pheasants with his family and his Chesapeake Bay Retriever, “Boomer”.
