Amber Klier Marohn, age 90, left her earthly home in rural Oshkosh to be with loved ones in the Lord on Saturday, January 28th, 2006. She was born March 28, 1915 in Oshkosh to Louis and Flora Klier. On March 12, 1938, she married Orville Marohn, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Amber was a tenderhearted Mom, a wonderful cook and an accomplished gardener whose life spanned the era of horse-driven farm machinery to modern-day cell phones. She farmed with her husband for 49 years, taught her children the Ten Commandments, wouldnt allow them to skip church or Sunday School, disciplined them when necessary, and gave out lots of hugs. After her husband died, Amber continued to work with her son, Daniel, tending newborn calves, preserving garden produce, and planting lovely flowers.
She rarely sat still, but when she did, her favorite indoor activities included reading the Bible, daily newspapers, and books by Christian authors. She also loved picking out hickory nuts and playing cards with a circle of close friends.
Amber attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Zion, and New Life Community Church, Oshkosh. She treasured the fellowship of Bible-study meetings, Ladies Aid gatherings, Homemakers, and family reunions.
She was respected and deeply loved by her six children: Louis (Patricia) Marohn, Glenview, Illinois; Lauralee (Robert J.) Miller, Oshkosh; Frederick Bud (Sally) Marohn, Pickett; Allan Marohn, Pickett; Linda (Donald) Merz, Pickett; and Daniel Marohn, Oshkosh. Amber loved being a grandmother to Adam (Laura) Miller, Waupun; Lee Marohn, Oshkosh; Bethany Miller, Watertown; Tracey (Todd) Miller, Omro; Nathan Miller, West Ben;, Amber Marohn, Pickett; and Jay Roberts, Ripon; and great-grandmother to Mitchell and Melanie Miller and Alex Marohn. Survivors include one sister, Dolores Busse, Omro and three sisters-in-law: Gertrude Marohn, Oshkosh; Mary Lou (Thomas) Jones, Oshkosh; and Yvonne (Gaylord) Schumacher, Oshkosh.
