Alton J. Meyer, age 87, of Ripon, WI, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin.
Alton was born October 20, 1928, in Lamartine, WI, the son of John and Dora (Hintz) Meyer. Alton attended school in Ripon. On September 12, 1953, Alton married Ruth Humbright at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI. He was a farmer his entire life and also served as Town Chairman in the Town of Nepeuskun. Alton had been a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon and served on the church council.
He is survived by his daughters, Jane (Patrick) Disterhaft of Fond du Lac, WI, Sara (Ronald) Liptow of Ripon, WI; grandson, Patrick Disterhaft Jr. of Fond du Lac, WI; step grandchildren, Chad (Jill) Liptow of Ripon, WI, Kirstin (Tom) Gregor of Princeton, WI, and step great granddaughter, Kai Liptow along with his sister, Dorraine Heitmann of Pennsylvania. Alton is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dora Meyer; wife, Ruth Meyer, who passed on April 10, 2000; an infant sister and his father and mother in-law, Lawrence and Elva Humbright.
Visitation for Alton J. Meyer will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015, from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again Saturday, November 14, 2015, from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Alton J. Meyer will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI. Reverend Clay R. Salmela and Reverend Bruce Falksen will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the City of Ripon. A memorial is being established.
