Alfred "Buzz" Oscar Radke, age 89, of Brandon, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at his home with family by his side.
Buzz was born in Springvale, WI, on August 9, 1928, the son of Oscar and Mildred (Baber) Radke. He graduated from Brandon High School, and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army. In 1958 he married Merlyn Vollbrecht in Clayton County, IA. Throughout his life Buzz worked as an excavator, a school janitor and retired as a property manager for an apartment complex. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon. Buzz was an avid bowler and sports fan. He loved dogs and also enjoyed gardening.
Buzz is survived by his children, Barbara (Mark) Richardson of Freeport, IL, Jeff Radke of Brandon, WI, Melinda (Jon) Doss of Aurora, IL, James (Donna) Schmuhl, Thomas (Bev) Schmuhl, and Jerry (Debbie) Schmuhl, all of Brandon, WI; sisters, Beulah Hollander of Rosendale, WI, and Ellene Caramanidis of Oshkosh, WI; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his companion dog, Dixie. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Merlyn.
Visitation for Buzz will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 107 S. Prairie St., Brandon, WI, 53919.
Funeral Service for Buzz will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bob Rosenberg officiating. Interment will follow at Brandon Cemetery, Village of Brandon, with full military honors. Memorials in Buzz's name may be given to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
